FAQ

1. For Newborn sessions, when is the best time to photograph?

Newborn sessions are best done 5 days to 3 weeks after birth. For those tiny, wrapped sleepy pictures, I think there is a sweet spot of 6-9 days. For more animated, awake baby shots, 2+ weeks is best.

2. For Maternity, when is the best time to photograph?

Pregnancy sessions are best between 28-35 weeks. We want to be able to see a bump and a nice round belly is always more fun!

3. Can I print my images myself?

Yes. All sessions include ALL of your edited/retouched images via direct download. You may print images immediately. You also have the ability to order professional prints, wall art and directly from your online gallery. I also have Beautiful Leather Print Boxes and Custom Leather Print Boxes available!

4. What if I need to cancel?

I would sure hate that! However, if you do need to cancel you would forfeit the non-refundable $150 retainer. Your best bet would be to reschedule at another date that works for the both of us.

5. What do we wear? I love neutral colors for in-home sessions, like beige, black, tan, and grey. However, for outdoor sunset sessions, think sky/sunset colors— like mustard yellow, burnt orange, red, and jewel tones— blues, greens, dark ruby. These bold colors paired with some neutrals like beige, black and tan, will look great! You also will have full access to my complimentary client closet.

6. Is there a travel fee?

As long as we are in the 25 minute range from zip code 75071, we are good. Outside of that I charge a $35 travel fee for farther than 25 mins, $50 travel fee for longer distances.

7. What if we need to reschedule?

I am a very flexible person. I understand things come up, especially with kids :)

8. How do you get those candid, natural smiles and expressions?

I talk to you. I prompt you. I ask you questions. If you have kids, we play games, we have prizes, we snuggle and tickle. Don't you want to remember what their little personalities are? Instead of a canned "say cheese" smile?

9. Is there a deposit?

It's $150 to reserve your date on the calendar. The remainder is due on shoot date. I send reminders for your convenience. *The Bundle & Extended family requires a $250 deposit. Themed Mini Sessions are due in full at time of booking.

 10. How long until we get our pictures back?

Turn around time for edited galleries are about 4 weeks. I do offer a rush option to be delivered in 2 days from session for $350.

11. What if we change our mind?

At any time before the session, if you decide I am not the photographer for you, I will refund all monies exchanged and cancel the contract, except the non-refundable deposit of $150 to hold your spot on my calendar.

 12. Do you shoot weddings?

No, but I do elopements and engagement sunset sessions.

 14. Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. I carry a business license and business insurance.

 15. Dogs?

Yes! If you have a semi-well behaved dog, bring them to the session! Dogs make every photo better in my opinion.

16. BAD Weather?

If it's raining, we will reschedule. If the skies are overcast, that's actually the most flattering light, as the clouds act as huge reflectors. If you had your heart set on a visible sunset backdrop, we will reschedule. I'm very flexible and we will work it out! Personally, I get excited when I see rain in the forecast because more times than not, it doesn't rain, but adds interesting clouds and colors to the sky/shoot!

17Who chooses the images?

I do, usually, unless you would like a different arrangement. I curate a gallery for you that is diverse and gorgeous. It is also nice to not have to choose and judge yourself. If you prefer to choose, I am able to send you a “soft” gallery so you may chose your own photos to be edited.

 18. What's the difference between an All-Inclusive & Individual Sales Photographer?

All- inclusive means that you receive everything for the price of the session. Individual Sales means the photographer only charges for a "session fee" for their time, but to receive any images is extra money.

19. Why are you All-Inclusive?

Because this is what I would want, and in fact, I only hire all-inclusive photographers for my own family photos. I feel that if we spend an hour together, you should get all the great photos from that hour. I don't want you to have to choose between them. They tell a story all-together and you should have them all!

20. Do we get the RAW images?

No, but i give you all the good ones! Giving you unedited photos is like giving you uncooked food for a beautiful meal. It's not finished art yet. And that's what you are paying for.

21. What do you bring with you to newborn sessions? I bring a collection of my favorite wraps, onesies, bonnets, hats, tie-backs & headbands. You are welcome to use any of these!

22. Do you do birth photography? No. But I do Fresh 48 or Fresh 24 hospital sessions.

23. I'm ready to book, what now?

Just head over to the contact page and fill out the info. I'll usually get back to you within a few hours. Let me know what type of session and when and we will get you scheduled. I then send you a number of items. I send you my Client Welcome Guide that has helpful tips on what to wear and what it is like to work with me. I also send you my invoice and contract and a quick questionnaire, which I ask you to fill out as much as you like, but the more I know you, the better :)

24. Why choose me?

I was hoping you’d ask. Because I don’t settle and I care a tremendous amount. And I always get the shots. If the session totally sucks, we reshoot. No extra money, we just try again. You hired me to get a full gorgeous gallery and that’s what I deliver.

25. What if you my kids don’t cooperate? How can I make the session go smoothly?

I don't expect kids to "be good" during their session. In fact, if they get to be a little naughty, that will probably get us some genuine smiles and laughter. I encourage parents to allow their child to be themselves. Try not to tell them no or scold them for anything during our time together and your photos will turn out happy and carefree! The real moments, uncontrollable giggles, and wind in your hair is the actual goal here, not forced or fake smiles. Also, consider letting them wear something they picked out, like shoes or a cool shirt, so they feel like themselves and like what they are wearing. But if the session totally sucks, we reshoot. No extra money, we just try again. You hired me for a gorgeous full gallery and that’s what I deliver.

26.Do you get photos of us looking at the camera?

Yes!! I love the natural and candid photos the most, but I always get several “posed” shots of everyone looking into the camera.
